Qualitative Chemical Semimicroanalysis by V. N. Alexejev

This textbook is a course in qualitative chemical semimicro- analysis. It is concerned with the fundamentals of theory, partial reactions, procedures for analysis of cations and anions. Much atten- tion is paid to reactions and ana- lytical procedures for mixtures of vanadium, molybdenum, and tungsten ions, and to analysis of metals and their alloys. A large number of review questions and problems are included.

The fifth Russian edition, from which this book has been tran- slated, had been substantially re- vised as compared with the fourth edition published in 1962. Modern concepts of the mechanism of the various types of reaction are dis- cussed; all the problems and exam- ples have been corrected with account of new data (constants, standard potentials, etc.). The book contains extensive reference to other literature which will enable the reader to find more detailed discussions on any point he wishes.

The book is intended for stu- dents of non-chemical higher schools and departments and tech- nical colleges. It may also be confidently recommended to all those dealing with qualitative che- mical analysis on the semimicro- scale.
